~ Check out my Mom's  diary from this past fall and winter.

Remember FALL?

OCTOBER 20th ...Look at these lovely colored leaves, the crisp autumn air... AHH! Autumn in New England just can't be beat!  There can't be a more wonderful place to live.  Let's go carve a pumpkin and lovingly place it on our front porch for all those rascally  trick-or treaters to see!  I can't wait to see how our barn holds up this winter.  Should be all buttoned up soon for the upcoming winter ahead.

NOVEMBER 2nd... OH BOY, SNOW!  Well, I have to admit, it is a little early for the white stuff, but who cares! Snow is gently falling, caressing the land and we are eagerly awaiting the chance to build a snow man.  Maybe we can hit the slopes of those fabulous mountains we have here in snowy Maine.  How lucky we are to have all 4 seasons.  I hope the rabbits are cozy in their nice new barn!

December 3...Well, school got called off.  There wasn't too much snow, only about 6  inches.  But glad the kids didn't have to ride the bus down those narrow Maine roads.  They can be treaturous if not plowed. Oh well, small price to pay to live in "God's Country".

December 15... well, schools called off again.. Michael's basketball game has been canceled and not made up. This is the 3rd game not played due to snow.  He's crabby and Megan and Jac are fighting.  Pray theres school tomorrow. If they'd just put some salt down on the roads they could make it to class.

Saturday December 22... shoveled another 18 inches of snow again to get to the rabbit barn.  So far we have had over 60 inches of snow and December isn't even over yet.  Christmas is almost here and hopefully it will take my mind off of my aching back and blistered hands.

Christmas In New England!!

December 26... Kids are playing with their toys from Santa. Recieved more snow again last night. Dad is snowblowing, mom is using the brand new snow shovel she recieved as a Christmas gift from her loving husband. Snow plow just burried our mailbox and plowed in our driveway after we just shoveled it

January 2... Happy New Year.  Yah right!  Getting another 18-24 today.  First day back to school... NOT.  Kids are home again.  All they know how to do is argue and fight.

January 5... snow.  Again... Broken my only good shovel.  Now I'm using a dirt shovel because the hardware store ran out.

January 15....  We now have about 95 inches of snow.  Another Nor'easter comin' our way.  PLEASE LET THEM HAVE SCHOOL.  Can't they just salt the roads and melt that crap away so they can have school?!?

Feburary 1... traveling to PA state convention today.  If we get up early enough and hurry south, we'll miss another storm.  Rain all the way to PA (hurray)  Snowing in Western Maine and school closed early.  Good thing Michael didn't miss much today!  HA HA, my hubby is home shoveling all by himself while I'm having fun at a rabbit show!  Life is good for a change!

February 4... shoveling the snow my husband didn't have time to do last Friday Feb. 1.  He's angry that the snowblower broke down so he couldn't shovel a piddley 14 inches of snow. Now I have to finish the job. Waterbottles all froze and several cracked because of the intense cold in the barn. Gotta run them in the house to thaw.  Dang Snow plow clipped our mailbox off it's post.  I have dug a tunnel to in the snowbank and put the mailbox in it so the mailman can reach it.  Hopefully he'll deliver some free plane tickets to Florida.

February15 .... Another storm.  About 20 inches this time.  Cant get the barn doors open.  Heck, can't find the barn. Gave up shoveling the path in the back yard.  There is now a 4 foot high chunk of ice we call a path. Another 4 feet on the sides in the shape of a wall.

February 25... A wopper of a Nor'easter due tomorrow.  School already canceled and it hasn't even hit.  There are roofs all over our area caving in.  A Walmart, JC Penney's, several school and gym roofs are gone and several homes and storage facilities crashed in.  Our roof is new, but BOY there's a lot up there.  Borrowed a ladder since my husband broke our good one shoveling off the rabbit barn.  Come to find out our roof is too high for the borrowed ladder.  Lets cross our fingers that we don't have a cave in.

March 3... Barn door blew open with the last blizzard.  Water bottles froze, drag them in to thaw for the zillionth time this winter.  Nice litter died from the cold wind.  Contiplating divorce so I can move somewhere warm.

March 7... Schools out again.  At this rate, the kids will be in school until 4th of July.  PLEASE PUT SALT ON THE ROAD!  It will melt all this god for saken snow!!  The kids have boredom solved by now, they just sleep all day.  There's no where to play outside.

March 8... Took the car in to get inspected.  Would you believe the entire undercarriage of my car is rusted away from all the darn salt they dump on these roads?!?

March 17, 2008

Today March 18.....Remember this "Christmas" picture? I took that picture yesterday, St Patricks Day!   It's 20 degrees today with a windchill of 5 above.  March is NOT supposed to be like this. Michael just came home from school telling me the school may cancel tomorrow with the new storm due in the morning.  The latest snow report was almost 190 inches of snow in Bridgton Maine (our town) so far this winter season!  I moved away from Wisconsin to get away from that yucky weather.  My husband promised me it would be better.  It's turning out WORSE!  Maybe I'll move back to Mississippi where we lived warm winters for 2 wonderful years.

Check out these photos

Isn't this just the picture perfect Christmas in New England scene?

NO - It's New England at it worst, St Patricks day in Maine!  We had a show last weekend and couldn't even get through the snow in the back yard, so we had to haul the rabbits through the house and into the garage where the truck was.  We STILL have at least 7 feet of snow in the back yard.

Our backyard. If you look closely, you'll find 2 broken shovels lying in the snow.  Our trails look like little ant tunnels.   The snow so high it's almost burried my clothesline.

Spring - Where ARE YOU?!
